Aren’t you glad that this is extinct and it can’t eat you? Part 1 Inostrancevia is a gorgonopsid, a terrifying lizard-dog thing the size of a rhinoceros. They are therapsids (which evolved from organisms such as Dimetrodon), which are more closely related to mammals than to reptiles. It lived during the Late Permian period (251 million years ago). They were the dominant predators of the Permian, with  large teeth and strong jaws. And yes, they would have eaten you.
